Five tips for your daily home skincare routine
The skin is the largest organ in the body, and a daily skincare routine is an important part of your health and beauty routine. As well as keeping skin looking its best, a good skincare routine promotes healthy, comfortable skin.
Is skin care necessary?
Skin care can be part of a beauty routine, but it also contributes to your overall health.
Healthy skin is better able to perform important functions like protecting the body against infection and regulating temperature. Following a daily skincare routine can also help combat issues like dryness, redness and sensitive skin.
Why should you take care of your skin?
Skin is exposed to dirt every day. This can come from sources outside the body (like dust, air pollution) or inside the body (like sweat, excess sebum and dead skin cells).
Washing your face removes this daily dirt from your pores. avoiding pores clogging with the day’s dirt and oxidising makeup which can lead to acne and blackheads. It’s best to cleanse your face twice a day, in the morning and more thoroughly at night.
However, cleansing can remove protective oils from the skin’s surface and leave the skin feeling tight. After cleansing, using a moisturiser helps comfort the skin and replace protective oils known as lipids.
Cleansing and moisturising are the two essential pillars of any skin care routine.

Daily skin routine at home : 5 tips
Use lukewarm water rather than hot water on the skin

Use a face cleanser instead of soap
Soap’s harsh detergent properties not only remove dirt, but can also strip the skin of its protective layer of lipids.
Apply products in the right order
After cleansing, rehydrate with a serum, nourish with an oil and protect with a moisturiser.
Massage products into the skin
This helps to improve blood circulation and energise the skin. Darphin recommends the Kinesio Massage techniques.
Use an eye cream before moisturising
Skin around the eyes is thinner than on the rest of the face, and requires a different kind of moisturiser. Use an eye cream before moisturising will help to hydrate and boost elasticity.
